What have happened to all of the gentlemen?

Tonight we went to a little town to have an ice cream cone. It's a relatively small town near here and keep in mind that I'm 9.5 months pregnant. This older man practically knocks me over as I peruse the ice cream selections to get into line that only consists of myself and my husband. I gave him a dirty look and it's not this particular person that bothers me, it's just something that I've been thinking about.

On our way to this little town, a very impatient person illegally passes my husband only to be like 10 feet ahead of us.

When I look at individuals cutting me off or driving dumbly, I often times will see them with a cigarette in mouth or a cell phone plastered to his/her ear.

On a recent trip to Sam's Club to buy water (huge jugs of water that were very heavy), I noticed that not one person offered to help me lift these huge water jugs into the shopping cart or load them into my trunk.

I just wonder sometimes what has happened to our world-to our society. I try to have faith in human beings and the goodness of individuals, but there are so many things that happen in my every day life that makes me wonder what kind of world we are becoming.

Ironically enough, as we drove off headed to the ice cream parlor, I told my husband that I want to raise our son to be a true gentleman. The kind of person that is kind to strangers, will not shove someone out of the way without at least an apology, will hold open the door, will not threaten the lives of others by chatting on a cell phone, and someone who thinks of others before he thinks of himself.
