Sam's Club Friend

I felt like posting a blog after going grocery shopping at Sam's Club today. I don't know (for the two people that read my blog on a regular basis) that I wrote about simple things like recognizing the grocery clerk as something that I took for granted when moving.

There is a sweet man that works at Sam's Club that is an older gentleman. He is in charge of checking the receipts to make sure that you've paid for everything upon leaving the store. Today he said to me, "How are you today?" And every time I see him, he is just the sweetest person and you get the sense that he truly does care about how you are today. I smiled and said that I was fine and asked him how he was and he responded positively. After he looked at my cart and my receipt, he wanted to make sure that I understood that the 32 pack of bottled water that I had purchased had a "V" next to one line item because the scanner had accidentally scanned it twice and the grocery clerk had voided one of them. I told him that I understood, and he said, "You take care of yourself dear." Really, someone just doing their job today made me smile. I'm not sure if he recognizes me as I've become a regular at Sam's Club, but I definitely recognize and remember him. It's hard not to become a regular of Sam's Club when a gallon of skim milk was $1.85 a gallon and 3 lbs. of bananas were 95 cents when we go through quite a bit of each for a household of 2. (Incidentally, milk went up to $2.25/gallon and bananas are now $1.14 for a bunch of bananas).

Anyway, I wanted to write about something that made me smile today-a friendly face at Sam's Club.
