Mother's Day

It has been quite a long time since I've last posted so I thought it would be nice to get a post in here, if not once a month maybe twice in six months?

Little baby's first birthday came and went. I am such a proud mama. He is walking, talking (his favorite word of course is Mama!), dancing (he does that Beyonce kind of dance when he hears music) and then he gets from his mommy a back and forth shift from the right foot to the left foot, waves bye, and just this past Tuesday did his first hand clap! Favorite song is Itsy Bitsy Spider and favorite books are The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Violet's House. I cried of course the day after his first birthday looking at pictures when he was first born and videos. He also sleeps usually around 11 hours at night and takes usually one long nap unless he only has a short nap and then he takes two. I also am continuing to nurse him and am astounded to have made it past the one year mark. I believe nursing has truly bonded me to him. It has been a gift to me to have been able to nurse him this long. I am not sure for how much longer this will continue as he seems to be self-weaning, but I am just thankful for the chance to nurse naturally one of my babies.

On to the oldest child, my dear headstrong 3 year old. He is very into recycling these days and garbage. He is also very into firetrucks. He is not into elevators as much as he used to be and also getting the mail like he used to be. It's funny how things change. He also likes to pretend to be other people or characters from a cartoon that he likes. I think that is his imagination at work. I cannot believe in a little over a month that he will be 4. He is a typical boy, loves to run and play and has lots of energy. We do have meltdowns and temper tantrums quite a bit these days (it's an every other day thing right now and sometimes more), and I do not know what to do or if this is typical behavior. He sleeps by himself and is potty-trained. These were huge accomplishments for us this past year, and of course so is going to pre-school for him. He also gives many hugs, kisses, and I love you's, mainly to mommy. He had a phase (which I've noticed he isn't doing recently) where he'll say quickly, I love you, I love you, I love you. What I know about him is that he is a sweet sensitive boy who has a kind heart.

Life here is really good. It's challenging some days, of course, but overall, I know how truly blessed I am to be a mother to two beautiful, healthy boys. I love them with all of my heart and would not trade the experience of being a mother for any other experience in the world.

If you are reading this, Happy Mother's Day to you.

p.s. Tried to post this in May and wouldn't go through. Attempting now.
