New Years Resolutions
I know it's been quite some time since I've blogged. My son is peacefully taking his afternoon nap and thought that this would be a wonderful time to print like the other millions of people in the world making up their New Years Resolutions.
At first, I wasn't going to make any. I know that many will probably be broken, but at least if I attempt to think about how I would like to improve my life, there would have at least been an attempt made to improve it- even if only in thought.
Today on television, I saw that a New Years Resolution should be to try to find a babysitter. What a wonderful idea! It's not anything I would have had to worry about in years past, but not being from this area, there is not anyone to rely upon. The first: Find a trustworthy babysitter. This is difficult for first-time parents-leaving their precious infant with a stranger, especially when the parents both come from overprotective families. This will probably prove to be one of the most difficult resolutions, but I will at least attempt it sometime this year.
Secondly, I've never had to put myself on the list. Pamper myself-give myself me time without the baby. Before having a baby, I never understood how so many women could put others before themselves. Now I completely understand how a woman could just never think about herself and taking care of herself. Number two: treat myself to a haircut, a pedicure, a workout at the gym-whatever it is that I need to replenish myself and thus making myself a better mother in the process. I suppose weight loss and being healthy somehow fall into this pampering myself category.
Thirdly, simplify my life and become more organized and only buy what I need. I am a clutter bug. As I type this, my room is full of junk and crap that I do not need in a disarray. I have a closet full of clothes that I would like to take to a consignment shop and another bag for a girlfriend to go through to see if she would like any of my old clothes. The picture with this blog is of an old garage sale we had at our old house-getting rid of junk that we didn't need. Somehow financials are a part of this resolution-only buying what we need and getting rid of stuff we don't can also earn extra income.
Next, work on relationships. This would include family, friends, making new friends, trying new things, and of course being a better mom to my son.
I will attempt to blog more often as well. It seems fitting that today we got a fresh blanket of snow-the start of a new year and new beginnings.
